Social Stories for Children

Social stories are stories that are written in present tense that help children interpret social situations.
*Social stories help teach basic social skills (i.e. Sharing, asking a friend to play, how to walk in line at school...)
*Social stories help teach understanding, interpretation, and appropriate response in social situations (i.e. predicting outcomes, preparing for change, coping, problem-solving...)



HOW TO CREATE A SOCIAL STORY ...GUIDELINES:
1. Be Short Clear and Concise!
2. Target a specific social skill.
3. Always explain the behaviors you want the child to do.
4. Always have Visuals to aid in the child understanding  and learning.








Always use Present Tense "I" in your stories.


Have your child READ the stories frequently!!
