Many of our teachers and parents recognize articulation disorders especially for those students who are unintelligible, but recognizing language disorders are just as important for academic success in reading and writing. Signs of language disorders include:
· Slow development of vocabulary, basic concepts and age appropriate grammar
· Difficulty using different conversation styles for different situations and difficulty using appropriate language
· Difficulty understanding or expressing ideas
· Delayed social development
· Late talker
· Performing below classroom expectations
· Difficulty following multi-step directions
